Many do oh whoops she isn’t a man…. I love Ms. Gaines. Her gift is her humor. Ive learned much from her. It is about Forgiveness. If you don’t believe her then believe Jesus. Look a people who don’t forgive or groups that don’t. They may have a real reason not to but are they moving forward with riches ? The best revenge or to avenge is living well and to be happy. So, first of all, I'd like the names of the "most scholars" who believe that women wrote the oldest parts of the bible. My research has yielded no such conclusion! Leading scholars accept that most of the Bible's authors are unidentified! The Reverend wants Israel's "identity" to be that of freed slaves. Not God's anointed people, but freed slaves! You may choose to identify as something you have never been, but I will not, even though there are slaves in my ancestry! We can never be free of chains if we never take them off, and we can never be free of slavery if the core of our identity has anything to do with slavery! The oppressed people he refers to was a Jewish generation that, After the second of Israel's four Judges Ehud died, forsook the ways of the Torah and adopted many of the idols of the people around them. As a consequence God delivered them into the hands of the King of Canaan, who was Jabin, of Hazor, and his cruel general Sisera. Under their rule, the Jews were most certainly oppressed. But it was God who gave them over to Jabin, and he to Sisera. It was God's will. So is God an oppressor? If this is about Deborah saving the day, then who, exactly, did she save the oppressed from? The problem with this kind of politically motivated preaching is this: What is oppression and what is God's will? And would any of us even exist without it? If my ancestors hadn't been slaves, would they have met? Would they have procreated? There is a rhyme and a reason for every manifestation of God's will! Once we start doubting that, once we start thinking that we're the oppressed ones, and our oppressors are still among us, in spite of the fact that our "oppressors of choice" are nothing more than descendants, who had nothing to do with any of it; that's when we stop serving God, and start serving worldly interests! I think the Reverend may have already turned that corner.
